The U.S. Department of Education requires students to demonstrate Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) to ensure continued access to federal financial aid. SAP is measured by both academic performance (grades) and the completion of required coursework, ensuring that students are on track to complete their degree or certificate within the established maximum timeframe.
Adhering to SAP standards is crucial for maintaining funding and successfully progressing toward your educational goals.
SAP & Fresh Start
The Fresh Start Program allows a student who is returning after a period of poor academic performance to reapply and be readmitted as if they were a new transfer student.
Fresh Start status does not apply to financial aid. Financial aid recipients must be making Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) toward their degree and their complete academic history will be reviewed when determining eligibility for aid.
Students requesting federal financial aid and are on SAP Suspension for Financial Aid may appeal based on extenuating circumstances.
